Unexpected Business Interruptions
There are times in every business when life throws a curve ball causing an interruption that interferes with your client bookings.  A few weeks ago, we had a severe hail storm which hit our home office rather violently. Golf ball sized hail stones came crashing through the skylights coming right into the house.  The reconstruction going on here now gave me the idea for this newsletter video topic.
A business interruption may come as a result of an accident or illness, economic difficulties or as in our present situation. In this video I offer some ideas and suggestions about how we can use some of this newly available time. There are options that will increase our effectiveness and maximize our efficient use of time so that we continue to move forward with our goals and plans.
With you in mind,
Norm

From the Client's Perspective with Darlene Ouimet
Increasing your Accessibility as a Therapist
When economic times are tough, many people do not make their mental health a priority. They view therapy as a luxury. As a result of that mindset, you may see a drop in your bookings.

If you find yourself with less than a full appointment calendar, there are a few inexpensive things you can do to attract more clients.  Marketing for therapists is often a touchy subject, however, there are ways that you can advertise your services professionally.  Think about what you do from the client's perspective.  What is the client looking for? Clients are mainly interested in what you can do for them. They want to be sold on your services. There are ways that you can provide that information even before they first contact you.
If you haven't looked into using the internet to market yourself and your practice, it makes sense to learn about this kind of marketing when you have openings in your schedule. There is a lot of free information on the web that you . . . Click here to continue reading.

Share Your Expertise Through An Audio Podcast
Did you know that over 30% of us learn through auditory methods?
As I am sure you are aware, there are 3 general learning styles: Visual, Auditory and Kinesthetic.
Although each of us will have components of all 3 within us, we usually have one dominant or preferred learning style.
Auditory learning involves listening to the spoken word, from self or others and to sounds and noises. One of the easiest ways to reach someone with this dominant learning style is through a recorded audio.
Creating an audio podcast that you can post/hear within your blog, gives you . . . click here to continue reading.

    Your Online Presence
    with James Friesen
    Looking Good in Google
So you have spent a lot of time adding great content to your site, making it interesting by adding some interactive features, and even made it look good with some great graphic design. Are you ready to go?
Well maybe not quite. You need to make sure you are looking good for Google too. Your site needs to first and foremost meet the needs of your site visitors, but after you have accomplished that goal you need to make it attractive to Google as well. Over the next few months we'll be exploring some ways you can do that.
*September's Tip: Make Sure Every Page has an Engaging Page Description*
A "Page Description" is a piece of text that Google shows beneath the page Title on the SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages). Google allows around 140 characters in this display, so you have to be efficient with your descriptions.
That descriptive text can make all the difference between whether or not a potential visitor clicks on your site listing. Visitors will look at your page Title and then quickly scan the description below the title. If you can quickly summarize the content of the page it will show the visitor that they will likely find the content they are looking for on that page, and your visits should go up!
How do you make descriptions show up?
Well, if you use a content management system like Drupal, Joomla, or Wordpress these all give you a place to type in the page description, which automatically creates the code for you. Whatever system you use, it should be easy to add these important descriptions.
Next month: It's all in the Title
    Cheers,
    James
