Therapist to Therapist  with Norm Quantz

How Effective is Opinion Sharing?

I believe that it is important to share my opinion of what is right and wrong in certain situations rather than to remain neutral. In this newsletter video post, I discuss the question, "Can you, as a therapist, be effective by identifying to clients when something is right or wrong?"

This video is about whether or not therapists can or should share their own opinion of right and wrong when it comes to certain situations that clients are sharing with them.  This kind of involvement can make a huge difference to a client who has never before had an outside opinion from a professional about the situation they are relaying.

Have a look at the video as I relate my own experience as an effective therapist.

With you in mind,
Norm

From the Client's Perspective with Darlene Ouimet

The Results of Remaining Neutral

When it comes to your clients, I have an advantage that you might not have. I was once a victim and then a client who had been abused and invalidated by some less than healthy people. I have been to neutral therapists myself so clients really trust me when it comes to talking about therapy issues. They know that I really understand the fear, guilt and shame as well as the questioning that goes on in the mind of one that has been misused.

Norm's video this month discusses the effectiveness of the therapist who contributes his or her opinion to the client/therapist session. Last month I wrote about my encounters with clients who don't know right from wrong regarding abuse done to them. This article is about clients who tell me how it feels when the counselor is neutral about the events clients relate to them.

I constantly hear about therapists who remain neutral during sessions. What happens is that the client is left still wondering if . . .  Click here to continue reading.

Implementation Plan (1 - 3)
Remember the bracketed (numbers) following each heading are merely suggestions for page lengths.

Implementation Activities and Dates

List in detail how you are going to implement each section of your business plan.
  •  When will you take possession of your office building?
  •  What date will you hire your first employee?
  •  When will you qualify for licensing?
  •  When and what advertising are you going to do?
  •  When will your first product/service launch?
  •  When will you require financing?
  •  What new products/service will you develop and when will you launch them?

    Financial Plan (4-8)
  •
Make sure your financial projections are believable.  A good rule of thumb is to overestimate your expenses and to underestimate your income.  For investors, the financial section is the most important section of the business plan because it identifies your financing needs and shows the profit potential of your business. A good financial plan should give the reader confidence that you really understand your business. So be sure to test how reasonable each of your expectations are. Don't be overly optimistic or overly pessimistic. Take into account the full costs of running your business. Be realistic. Be credible.

    Projected Costs and Project Funding

  •  Do you have start-up costs?
  •  How are you planning on funding them?

    What is Marketing?

You may be saying to yourself, I know I need to do some marketing, but I don't really know what it is.
So let's take the mystery out of it and put it simply.

"At a very basic level, marketing is about determining the value of your product or service and communicating that information to people who might buy your product or service." quoted from canadabusiness.ca.

Looking Good in Google (Part 3)

This is a series on how to make your website Google-friendly to maximize your search engine presence.

3 Reasons to Use Headers in your Content

What are "Headers"? These are the page and paragraph titles and summaries that stand out from the rest of your text at the beginning of a new section of the content. Just like in Word or other document creators, there are different levels of headers in website content, starting with quite large font-size and getting smaller at each level, but always staying larger than the main content.

Almost all website editors will allow you to easily designate a block of text as a header. Read below to find out why it's a good idea!

    1. Headers make your content easier to read.

One of Google's ongoing mantras is that if your site is useful to real world visitors then it will do well in Google search results as well. To that end, adding headers to your content allows your readers to quickly browse your content and see if it contains something they are interested in. We all hate big chunks of text with no break. Using headers help solve that problem.

    2. Headers are used by Google to see if your page is relevant.

Google places special emphasis on text that is in your headers. Because header text is a great place to put summary information, key words that you put into headers show Google that the content on that page is relevant to those key words. So don't lose a chance to put important words in your header titles to show Google what you are talking about.

    3. Headers help you stay on topic.

It's a principle of good writing to stay on one concept or idea in each paragraph and section of your content. Forcing yourself to add headers to your content, and making the text in the header a summary for your content, forces you to logically organize your content for the sake of the reader. And remember... if it's good for your visitors, it's good for Google.
    Cheers,
    James
