Decluttering Relationships
When it comes to relationships, how do you "declutter" in a friendship or marriage? In most situations the client will pose the question, "How do I put my marriage or relationship back together?" They tend not to think in terms of decluttering.
When a client comes to you in all sincerity asking you, the relationship professional, how they can declutter, it may be about a friendship that has residual pain attached to it, or it may be a more difficult situation such as when it involves a spouse.
In this video I address the topic of decluttering; when a client has come to you knowing that someone or something in their life is holding them back and how you, the Effective Therapist, can help them move forward.
With you in mind,
Norm

Correcting a False Belief
Clients are full of excitement and gratitude when they tell me about how they realized and corrected a false belief as a result of a therapy session, and how it freed them to move forward and live their life more fully.
Most clients realize after they have let go of a false belief, that it was the belief itself that was holding them back. Once the problem is addressed and corrected, it is as though a weight has been lifted. Sounds easy enough, however the key seems to be in realizing that the belief was usually not formed recently.
What I hear from excited clients is that the big light bulb moment came when the cause or core of the belief was realized and corrected. Simple little tidbits of information such as "my mother always said that if I wasn't so needy, she wouldn't be so impatient with me" turned into an effort on the part of the client to resist and deny ever having needs.
Realizing a lie in the present tense and correcting it, is one type of relief, but discovering the root of that lie and replacing that with the truth, is a whole other kind of freedom!
So from the client's perspective, how can the therapist be more effective in helping a client obtain that freedom? From my observations, there are two things that make . . .

Darlene

Your Online Presence
with James Friesen
With more broadband internet access, users can now afford to browse more than they did a couple of years ago, and designers can use this opportunity to present content in a more attractive and memorable way.
Hence, it's no wonder that many product websites use media blocks (for videos and screencasts) for this very purpose. The main advantage of such elements is that they can communicate content quickly and effectively and make it easier for users to consume information.
Users just lean back and enjoy the show; they get everything explained to them step by step, without having to click, search for descriptions or learn the navigation. The movies are usually pretty short and get directly to the point; they are mostly formal but can be entertaining, too.
But please make sure that videos are an alternative presentation of (and not the main or only!) content on your website.
Not every user has broadband access to the Web, not every user is willing to watch a video (e.g. because he or she may have a radio or music playing in the background), and not every user has Flash and JavaScript installed on his or her machine.
Cheers,
James
