The Weight of the Issue ~
How does the Effective Therapist Discern?
When a couple comes to counseling struggling with marriage problems, how does the effective therapist discern where the weight and responsibility of the problems actually lie?
In this short video I take into consideration everything from the therapist's belief system including the thought that it is entirely the husband's fault or all her fault and even the in between. I talk about using a compare and contrast technique with my clients in order to determine which direction to head in with therapy.
With you in mind,
Norm

The Weight of the Issue
In the case of both partners being convinced that the other is at fault or in the case of a wife convinced that it is entirely her fault but she just can't fix it, it is of the utmost importance that the actual truth be fleshed out. Sometimes the truth is complicated. Most of the time, one or both of the pair see things through foggy lenses and in this case the truth is often illusive.
In my relations with clients, I hear a common thread in the recovery process; from what clients tell me, resolution is realized more quickly if the therapist . . .

Start with a Business Strategy
So now it is time to get motivated, clear-headed, focused! It is time to brainstorm and research your options. We will do this by conducting a Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) Analysis of your existing therapy practice or of your potential practice. Use this analysis to help you identify the following: (list your answers and be specific)
What are your strengths?
What are your weaknesses?
Who your clients are likely to be, both on and offline?
Who your competitors are likely to be, both on and offline?
What opportunities and trends do you see?
What new value-added services can you offer that sets you apart?
How do you need to improve your daily business operations?
What would change if you established an online presence?
What regulations and special issues affect your industry?
What are the specific risks you may face?
Here in North America we have several wonderful websites that will help you in your research.
For those of you in other areas of the world here are few links
Australia: http://www.australia.gov.au/
United Kingdom: www.direct.gov.uk/en
A good GOOGLE search for your applicable country is "(your country) government gateway."
After you have processed the information you learned in the above exercise you are ready to start with your strategy development which will cover the following issues . . .
Best Regards,
Neva

Use Your Professional Directory Listing as a Marketing Tool
In today's fast pace gathering of information it can be tough to stand out above the crowd. That is why we encourage our members to take advantage of the Public Directory available with your membership.
This directory is searchable by potential clients who visit the site looking for a professional to help them. Plus, it is Search Engine Optimized (SEO) so that all the major search engines, like Google can promote you as well!
View your Professional Profile as your 30 second 'elevator pitch'. Who are you, what do you offer and how can they contact you to get started?
If you haven't already set yours up, don't delay any longer. If you do have it set up, does it promote you and your services well? Does it need to be refreshed? Does it have a photo of your smiling face welcoming your visitors? Remember you can update and edit your profile at anytime.
You don't need a separate website to be noticed on the web - you can use the features available to you on the Hub.
Warmly,
Tammy
